- led the team in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations responsible for the United Nations peacekeeping operations in the former Yugoslavia (1991 to 1996)
- Head of the UNHCR office in Singapore (1981-1984)
Education:
- Ph.D Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he also earned two Master’s degrees
General Information:
- Since 1978, he has worked for the United Nations, serving with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees
- Tharoor is also the author of eight books and was awarded the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize among others
